How to play MLB Wordle

  1. Type a player's name and pick him from the list. The surname is enough.
  2. Each guess gets seven tiles: team (the club he played the most games for), division, position, bats/throws, debut, last season and birth country.
  3. Green is a match, orange is close, and the arrows on the years point toward the answer.
  4. Stuck? Reveal a clue: position, career, bats and throws, birthplace, number of franchises, main team, then initials.
  5. You have 8 guesses. A new daily player comes at midnight UTC; unlimited mode deals a new one every round.

The 2,088 possible players are notable careers from the SABR Lahman Baseball Database (1876–2025, CC BY-SA 3.0): careers that ended in 1950 or later with 1,000+ games (pitchers: 400+), plus earlier players with 1,800+ games (pitchers: 500+).

MLB Wordle unlimited: questions

How does MLB Wordle work?

A notable MLB player is hidden. Type a name and pick it from the list. Each guess gets a row of tiles: green means the fact matches the hidden player, orange means it is close, and the arrows on the years point toward the answer. You have eight guesses, and you can reveal clues one at a time.

What do the colours mean?

Team: green for the same main team (the club he played the most games for), orange when the hidden player also played for that team or it is in the same division. Division: orange for the same league. Position: orange for the same group (infield or outfield). B/T: orange when bats or throws match. Debut and Last: orange within three seasons.

Which players can come up?

About 2,000 notable players from the Lahman Baseball Database: careers that ended in 1950 or later with at least 1,000 games (pitchers: 400), plus earlier players with 1,800 games or more (pitchers: 500).

When does the daily player change?

At midnight UTC, the same player for everyone. Unlimited mode deals a new player every round.

Is this the real Wordle?

No. MLB Wordle is our own Wordle-style game: you guess a baseball player, not a word, in eight tries, and the tiles compare baseball facts instead of letters. It is not affiliated with The New York Times or Wordle.

Is this the official MLB game?

No. AllStar Grid is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Major League Baseball, its clubs or any other grid game. Team names and logos are used only to say which franchises a question asks about; the logos are trademarks of their teams.
