About AllStar Grid

What this is

AllStar Grid is a home for free daily sports grid games. The NFL section is live: the daily NFL Grid, guess the NFL player, the career path game and played-for-both lists for every pair of teams. The MLB section is live too: the daily MLB Grid, MLB Wordle, the MLB career path and played-for-both lists for all 435 pairs of MLB teams, built from the SABR Lahman Baseball Database (CC BY-SA 3.0). The NBA section is live as well: the daily NBA Grid, NBA Wordle, the NBA career path, NBA Connections, NBA Trivia, played-for-both lists for all 435 pairs of NBA teams and a page for each of the 30 franchises, built from the infoboxes of English Wikipedia player articles (CC BY-SA 4.0) and Wikidata (CC0). Other leagues will only be added once their games are ready and their data is checked. Everything runs in your browser.

Where the facts come from

Player, roster and team facts come from nflverse, a public dataset released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence: names, positions, colleges, jersey numbers, draft years, divisions. Player photos are free-licence files from Wikimedia Commons (public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA), each credited. We never use league or broadcaster headshots. Team logos are shown unaltered to identify each team; they are trademarks of their respective teams, and AllStar Grid is not affiliated with the NFL or any team (logos via TheSportsDB).

What we deliberately do not do

We do not ask you to make an account to play. We do not sell your data, because we do not collect it. We do not show gambling or betting adverts. We do not pretend to be the official game: we are independent, and we say so on every page.

Corrections

If a fact is wrong, that is the most useful thing you can tell us: the whole value of a quiz is that the answers are right. Write to the address on the contact page and we will fix the data.

About AllStar Grid: questions

Who makes AllStar Grid?

A small independent team. We write the games, the page copy and the engine that picks each day's grid and player ourselves, and we publish where the facts come from on the credits page.

Where do the player facts come from?

From nflverse, a public dataset released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence: names, positions, colleges, jersey numbers, draft years and divisions. Player photos come only from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, with the photographer credited. Team logos (via TheSportsDB) are trademarks of their respective teams.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Every game runs in your browser with nothing to sign up for and nothing to install. Your progress stays on your own device.

Is this the official game?

No. AllStar Grid is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the NFL or any other league, their teams or their players. Names are used to identify the facts being asked about.
