NBA teams: questions
Which NBA franchise has had the most players?
The Atlanta Hawks, with 602 players since 1949–50. The table above ranks all 30.
Do old teams count for today's franchise?
Yes. Every season under an old name or in an old city counts for the franchise that carries that history today: the Seattle SuperSonics are the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Minneapolis Lakers are the Los Angeles Lakers, the Vancouver Grizzlies are the Memphis Grizzlies and the Washington Bullets are the Washington Wizards. The Charlotte Hornets of 1988–2002 count for today's Charlotte Hornets, the way the NBA gave that history back to Charlotte.
Where do the numbers come from?
From the infoboxes of English Wikipedia's player articles (CC BY-SA 4.0), BAA/NBA seasons 1946–47 to 2025–26; ABA seasons do not count. A player counts once per franchise, however many seasons he played there.
